Gustavsberg Public – Designed for accessibility

Bathroom products for public environments, such as restaurants, shops and sporting facilities, are often subject to specific requirements that are different from those for residential settings. For this reason, we have developed Gustavsberg Public, a complete product range designed with public environments in mind when it comes to quality, sustainability, hygiene and ease of use.

Public toilets require products that can tolerate intensive use and heavy wear. Hygiene is another important, high-priority aspect for public toilets – the products need to be easy to maintain and clean in order to maintain a high standard of hygiene. Touch-free technology, such as sensor-controlled mixers, makes good hand hygiene easier and simplifies cleaning, while also saving water.

New – A washbasin for everyone

Not everyone finds it easy to visit a bathroom and wash their hands. For this reason, we have put all our experience from healthcare and public environments into creating our Public washbasin. It combines accessibility, functionality and design, and is ideal for environments where bathrooms must be accessible to everyone.

Public washbasin is available with the Ceramicplus surface treatment, which gives the porcelain a dirt-repellent surface that prevents limescale and dirt from taking hold. Ceramicplus is also good for the environment because less and milder cleaning agents are required for cleaning. The washbasin has holes for the mixer and an overflow drain that drains excess water and prevents flooding. The new design harmonizes with other products within the Gustavsberg Public range.

Public washbasins meet Scandinavian requirements for accessibility in healthcare, while combining high demands for both functionality and attractive and smart design. The washbasin has been carefully designed not to have any hidden corners where dirt and bacteria could collect, making it easier to clean and promoting good hygiene. Another example of smart design is the profile under the front edge, which wheelchair users can use to get a better grip and get close to the washbasin.

Even the dimensions of the washbasin have been optimised for accessibility, resulting in a generous basin that makes it easy for anyone to wash their hands. The distance from the front edge of the basin to the mixer is 300 mm, so everyone can reach the lever and the water.

It should be easy to make a bathroom more accessible, which is why Public washbasins have a flexible design, allowing them to be mounted on existing bolts from previous washbasins, as long as the bolt distance is between 280 and 350 mm.
