EPD

EPD is an shortening for Environmental Product Declaration and is a declaration of a product's environmental impact from a life cycle perspective. The system is the most accepted way of reporting the climate impact of a construction product, the so-called footprint in CO2 equivalents, which means that you recalculate all greenhouse gases to the impact of CO2 - the result is called CO2 e. The registration and documentation follow specific rules, Product category rules (PCR) and are third-party audited.

The accounting can be done for a weight, length or a sales unit and it is very important that the same units are compared when comparing products.

The EPD documentation is available both as a pdf and as a digital version - they can be downloaded from https://www.eco-platform.org/epd-data.html
