Torbjørn Kvasbø gets the Villeroy & Boch Gustavsberg ceramics scholarship 2008
2008-08-08
Villeroy & Boch Gustavsberg AB gives – together with the Gustavsberg Porcelain Museum - their sixth annual ceramics scholarship to the ceramist Torbjørn Kvasbø.
Torbjørn Kvasbø is a world class ceramic artist. Both at his previous position as professor of the School of Design and Crafts at the University of Gothenburg and his current work at Konstfack in Stockholm he has improved the quality of the education and encouraged the students to an undaunted exploration of the ceramic expressions.
Torbjørn Kvasbø has also influenced professional ceramists to occupy both the Swedish and the international stage. Without him the development of Swedish ceramics would most likely not be as dynamic as it is today.
The purpose of the scholarship is to draw attention to Swedish ceramic, both artistically and industrially. The scholarship size is 25 000 SEK.
The scholarship will be handed out on Sunday August 31st - by Johan Boheman, CEO at Villeroy & Boch Gustavsberg AB.
Kerstin Wickman, professor emeritus Konstfack, Malin Wessby, writer and Birgitta Hansson, General Manager for Gustavsberg Porcelain Museum are all members of the scholarship committee.
