Gustavsberg sees the result of the support to a SOS Childrens Village in Ukraine

2008-06-11

In the end of May Gustavsberg participated in a trip to Ukraine that was arranged by the Swedish section of SOS Children’s Villages. The reason for the trip was primarily to visit the newly built SOS Children’s Village in Brovary outside Kiev. Gustavsberg has contributed to the sponsoring of this village.

Gustavsberg has equipped all the village houses in Brovary with WC:s, washbasins and bathtubs. The houses are not yet completely ready but the bathroom products were put in place.

The official house warming ceremony was held on Sunday June 1st. Local authorities as well as sponsors were there. There were also opportunities for meeting the children and the ”moms” that will soon move in to the village.

On the picture Yaroslav Plachynda – who represents Gustavsberg in Ukraine – is getting a diploma from Igor Shevchenko who is chairman of the board of the Ukrainan SOS Children’s Villages.

SOS-Childrens Village in Sweden has – completely or partly – financed about ten Children’s Villages around the world. The village in Ukraine is one of those.
Gustavsberg is very positive to the work of SOS-Children’s Villages  – especially the fact that it’s based on local activities that benefits the locals and focuses on those families and children who need most help – and will continue to support the organisation in one form or another.
